A Song was written as a simple, yet dramatic solo piece for trumpet with piano accompaniment. My goal
was to write a piece that a typical high school trumpet player would find enjoyable to play. The main
melody is stated and slightly developed to a peak, then calms down and wraps up in a satisfying matter. The harmony modulates far away from the main key (dm) for a bit, then slowly comes back towards the end. This piece was premiered at the Fall 2021 UCA Composers Forum Concert, with Trenton Rhodes on trumpet.
