This piece was inspired from a concert band work that I performed as part of the 2023 Arkansas Intercollegiate Band at the All-State conference by Chen Yi. The piece is a large festival, but is using a lot of unusual harmonies atypical for fanfares. I was really inspired by the composition and wrote this piece in response. While there are some unusual harmonies within my piece, it is mainly a development of the melodic material that I present in the beginning. In the middle we have a B section that is typical of my works that is very dark and ominous. Then we return back to the opening material and send it off to a very high climactic ending.
