At the time of writing these words, this is my only brass quintet written to date, which is very odd considering that I am a brass player. I have always loved the brass quintet, a very standard ensemble with the repertoire being incredibly expansive. I wrote a stereotypical fanfare at first, then decided to make this an ABA piece with the B section being my signature dark, chromatic music. This piece would certainly work well as an opener (or even a closer) to a brass concert!
